A Day No Pigs Would Die
Robert Newton Peck

A reaction I had while reading the book is I was surprised because now that Rob got a D in English his Aunt Matty wants to tutor him. I think it was sort of dumb because she isn't the mother of Rob. Rob's mother is responsible for tutoring him, not his Aunt. I wonder what the author means when he says that Rob doesn't want help from his Aunt Matty because he has a D in English, and I would want help and maybe a tutor. I really don't understand why Rob gets all mad because he doesn't want any help. I really like that Aunt Matty said to Rob which sentence is right and Rob said they all sound right because she is teaching him every little thing. Plus, if Rob thought he could do everything right then why did he get a D. He could have just asked for help with his mom, and he would never be in the situation with tutoring. Rob reminds me of someone who doesn't do their work because he doesn't care. Aunt Matty reminds me of myself because I would want to learn or teach myself if I got a bad grade. Rob reminds me of Pinky the pig in doing no work because Rob is to lazy to learn. I think the setting of them in Rob's house and in school is important because if it was somewhere else someone might think why he is learning for nothing when he really is going to school being tutored by his Aunt. This scene of Rob trying to learn reminds me of a real life situation because some people have the same problems as Rob does. The part before Rob comes home to be tutored is very realistic because it tells me that the pig is the size of him and it runs to him. This is the reason because he lives on a farm and I'm sure that every farmer wakes up to his animals welcoming him. I dislike some of the writing because some of it is confusing and hard to understand.
